Grim 9 – Dark Art Zine June 2018
I must admit that when I started this back in October last year I had little expectation, I thought I’d try it for a couple of editions and see what would happen. I didn’t expect such an enthusiastic response, and by early this year I became pretty good at printing, folding and sewing quickly, so much so that my fingers are usually bleeding from needle accidents from sewing so many! But a little lost blood is well worth it considering the knowledge that so many of you get something from Grim.
Here we are again then, June 2018, with another 20 page edition! This month sees more contributions from The Suicidal Rabbit and Declan Bannon who have now become essential reading and placed together with illustrations, photography and found materials enhance a dark menacing or deeply melancholy feeling. Yes, with its kind contributors Grim is balanced nicely across dark, confusing, desperate, weird (very) and slightly amusing.
Excerpt from page 14 of this edition by Declan Bannon:
‘Unspoken words, unspent time, lost moments haunt me.The girl with the moon in her eyes. Her dreams etched on a canvas of skin, outwardly hiding the scars within. Her memories alive in the lines of song, pushing the envelope of a world gone wrong’
Contributors in this edition
laura, carys, seren, hedy, kat, amber, martine, silk, becky
EM, luca monti
Once again, without Grims’ kind contributors, this would never have reached as many folks as it has. Thank you so much 🙂
